12. There is a mix of uses on the site, particularly in the historic building complex. Development provides a setting for new jobs, but does not have retail activities that would take business away from Water Street, or any activities that are incompatible with residential neighbors.

My personal view would have been for the State of Maine to use stimulus to refurbish the main campus and turn the school into a charter school for the creative arts that would include theater, voice, dance, graphic arts, film making/editing, commercial art, sculpture, etc. The refurbishing creates jobs and the charter school creates additional jobs.
ReplyDeleteBusiness is business -- I don't believe we should stifle the ideas of entrepreneurs. I would make assurances that business should be green, nonpolluting, and relevant to the skill sets of area residents.
