Tax Consequences and Environmental Issues

What will be the tax consequences be if we purchase the property?
What will be tax consequences be if we allow the property to be privately developed?
Are there any environmental issues with the property?
Are there any drainage issues with the property?

  1. Every potential use of the Stevens School needs to be analyzed in terms of tax consequences and benefit to the City of Hallowell. Who benefits? Who doesn't benefit? Is any harm being done?

  2. In the mid-1980's, the Army National Guard started scraping off part of the field behind the Reed Center to build a softball field. In the process of doing this, the natural flow from the field was redirected and water started flowing down through the properties on Pleasant Street. Furthermore, within 150 of the property then owned by Mr. Slack, a dark liquid was slowly oozing from the bank. This situation was reported in the Kennebec Journal. The work on the field was stopped. It was never determined what caused the issues that developed.
